Docs -> Getting Started (An intro to coding for FCMS)

There are two ways to contribute code to Family Connections, either by adding modifications or by fixing bugs and adding feature requests.

Modifications

A modification is simply a small enhancement to the site that you have coded and want to share with other users. Modifications are diferent from feature requests because modifications are not part of the Family Connections code. They are like add-ons to the code. If you have coded or would like to code a modification please submit the entire code to the Forum.

Bugs / Feature Requests

Family Connections uses SourceForge for all issue tracking, so if you are interested in coding bug fixes or feature requests, you must create an account at SorceForge.net and get added to the project as a Developer.

Bugs
A bug is an error in the programming of Family Connections. A list of the current bugs can be found here.

Feature Requests
Something becomes a Feature Request if and only if the FCMS Development team decides that the feature needs to be a part of the code and not just a modification.

We are currently using an application called UserVoice, to help quantify the most requested feature requests. Feature Requests are typically added to the UserVoice site first, then transferred to the SorceForge site if they are viewed as a valid request. A list of the current feature requests can be found here.
