FCMS 1.8 Released

Family Connections 1.8 has been released.

Unfortunately some things were removed from the release that were originally planned.  New themes, optional awards, and Relationship/Genealogy were all left out.  The main reason they were left out was time.  I don’t like to wait too long in between releases.  All these will be added to the 1.9 release.

Unfortunately the language files have not been updated for 1.8 also.  I will work with my translators to get them finished ASAP.

Here is what’s new with the release.

The following bugs were fixed:

2540797 – Cannot edit Address Book entries
2531076 – Cannot vote for photo when viewing Latest Comments
2531146 – Pages on Top Rated and Most Viewed don’t work
2540787 – Captions disappear when editing
2528700 – Recipe title disppears when editing recipe
2562008 – Sending email from FCMS has escaped quotes
2549701 – Pages links on Tagged Photos view don’t work
2549242 – Special characters cause error on registration
2512258 – Member ID is wrong on Prayer Concerns
2563999 – Popups missing sitename and version

The following enhancements (feature requests) were also added:

2524376 – Lock account after 5 failed login attempts – After reading about the recent twitter accounts being hacked, I realized that FCMS was vulnerable to the same brute force attacks.  To prevent that, you will now be locked out of your account for an hour, if you try to login unsuccessfully 5 times.

2187394 – Add additional notifications to the homepage – When a new poll or calendar entry is made, you will now see notifications on the front page.

1816831 – Add documents to the site – You can now upload and share documents on th site.  This is an optional section that must be added (through the admin configuration screen) after upgrading to 1.8.

1850324 – Private Messages (PM) – You can now send private messages to each other through the FCMS site.
